Who is responsible for your information?

Information we process
When you purchase an ebook, we process the information required to administer your order: your name and email address, billing details where required, products purchased, transaction amount, payment status and order reference. Payment information is processed through Shopify checkout and its applicable payment services.
When you contact us, we process your email address and the information you provide. Please do not send passwords, complete card numbers or unnecessary sensitive information.
The website, checkout and delivery services may process technical information such as IP addresses, device/browser information, timestamps, security records and order/download-access records as part of providing the service.
Why we use information
We use your information to process your order, confirm payment, deliver ebooks, provide order support and administer refunds. Where applicable, the legal basis is performance of our contract with you or steps you request before placing an order.
We also process records to meet applicable accounting, tax and legal obligations. Proportionate fraud prevention, website security and support recordkeeping may be based on legitimate interests where that basis is available under applicable law, taking your rights into account.
At present we do not operate a marketing newsletter or use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or TikTok Pixel. An order email is for delivery and service communications, not automatic marketing enrolment.
Service providers
Our storefront is built and hosted using Lovable, and our checkout uses Shopify. Shopify and its relevant payment providers process information needed for checkout, payments, fraud prevention and related services. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not use the stated analytics or advertising tools; this does not mean that hosting and checkout services collect no technical information.
Cookies and local storage
Necessary technologies may support the cart, checkout, order access and security. We have not intentionally added optional advertising or analytics tools to the storefront.
Where consent is required for nonessential technology, it must be obtained before that technology is activated. You can also manage cookies in your browser, although blocking necessary storage may affect checkout or access.
Retention and international processing
We retain order records as required for accounting, legal obligations and order administration, and support/security information for periods proportionate to resolving requests and protecting the service. We do not retain personal information indefinitely without a purpose.
We operate from Japan and use service providers that may process information in other countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, those safeguards must apply.
Your rights
Depending on the law applicable to your information, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. These rights have conditions and exceptions, including where records must be kept by law. You may object to direct marketing where relevant.
To make a request, email hello@quietwithyuki.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity and will respond within applicable legal time limits. You may also complain to a competent data-protection authority, including Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission where applicable, or an appropriate authority in your jurisdiction.
Providing information necessary for an order is required for us to complete it. Optional information is voluntary.
Security and changes
We use appropriate measures to protect information; no online service guarantees absolute security. We may update this notice to reflect changes to the store or legal requirements. The updated date is shown above, and further notice is given where required.
